The Bluffs, Seas 1-3 Vis 60 Temp 76 It was rough seas on the way out to the Jack location in my stomach got pretty queasy. We started out our first dive at a location called the Bluffs. I started out being very social and talking to everybody on the boat but as my stomach be Kmart queasy I got more quiet trying to focus on not getting more sick. It's seem to take forever to get out to the dive location. I Donda all of my equipment and sat down at the 10 minute mark and that is when I started getting really sick. Fortunately I entered the water before I got to nauseated and felt immediate relief. I was diving with a bunch of professional people so they got off the boat and entered the water very quickly as deadeye. I had gotten rid of all the air and my BC so I went directly to the bottom and shoring that I was equalizing my ears all the way. My nausea immediately went away. I was diving at about 75 feet and, since I was driving on air I only had a bottom time of 30 minutes. The sea life down there was quite incredible and I drop down exactly on the location I was supposed to. It is basically a reef ledge about 15 feet high paralleling the shore from north to south. There was an immense amount of sea life down there though more the tiny fish than the larger pelagic's. I pulled out my go Pro on a POV stick and found the intermittently. The most interesting thing I saw however was a bout a 3 to 4 foot turtle digging and they have the seabed over top of one of the ledges. I was also amazed by the diverse and vivid colors of the coral ledge even at that deep location. Usually you lose the colors by the time you passed 60 feet but, even at 75 feet, the colors were pretty vibrant. On the go Pro I had attached the red filter that Dave had purchased during his trip to Australia. The fish seem to be a little more approachable and not as afraid and I saw a huge schools of baitfish hiding in the ledges. The area was fun also because they were quite a few trenches and crevices that you could explore. I was enjoying testing my buoyancy control also as I was hovering just a few feet above the ocean floor. My air was still pretty full when I reach the 30 minute mark so I simply sent it about 15 feet which gave me an additional 15 minutes of bottom time. I was enjoying drifting along with the current watching from above. In about 40 minutes I started my sent and deployed the surface marker buoy at about 20 feet. It was an improper deployment though as I actually drop the spool but fortunately caught it. I was doing all this while simultaneously attempting to not go above my 15 foot safety stop depth. I ended up getting the situation under control and finished a send them to the surface where two of the other divers join to me so they would not have to deploy their SMB. It was a couple of minutes before the boat came around and picked us up. The seas were about 3 to 4 foot waves though the frequency was pretty tight making the surface quite active. Boarding the boat was interesting and I was back on taking all my equipment off.

Actually called the "Mizpah Corridor." Great way to start the day! My favorite dive of the whole two day trip. It is actually a series of wrecks and rubble. We dropped down next to the Mizpah where we found several Goliath Groupers and some very large Rays. I watched a large Grouper swim through a hole in the top of the Mizpah. Amazing it got through but then it turned and peered out at us when we came close. Between this and the next wreck were some old tires in the sand. We were told the Groupers may aggregate above the tires but no luck. Next was the Patrol Craft 1174. It is in two pieces with a considerable gap in between. Lots of sea life! Next was the wreck of the Amaryllis. The deck has been cut off of it. Lots of life on this wreck. We then drifted to the China barge also called the research barge. We were told we probably not reach it but diving Steel 119s paid off and we did. Also we were told there is not life there but there were some fish and some very large rays in the sand next to it. It is worth seeing but not nearly as much life as what is on the Mizpah. Great dive all around.

2nd dive with Sl8r. I decided to ditch Chris based on his last comment about leaving him be to catch lobster on the lobster I found. His female dive buddy was in deco and was having other problems with her computer giving accurate air pressure settings, so she sat out the 2nd dive. Cole was in the water with some air divers. We jump in and on descent divers immediately attack the reef. A turtle was swimming by and I took off south to get ahead of the pack. I ran into multiple sharks, turtles, and 5 green moray eels. It was nuts! I finally found a keeper and caught it. It didn't want to get caught. It fought me well, but I managed to catch it. So I brought home a total of 4 lobster tails during this mini season. Sl8r called this site Bob. It was funny because Carol had sent him a text earlier asking if I wanted to dive BHB, but auto correct typed Bob.

Absolutely fantastic reasonable easy dive. Marine life beyond description. Bill Utterback instructor very knowledgable & patient. Realised necessary weight to be considered between 16 to 29 #.Still need practice in manoeuvring, fins management, not touching bottom. Have to stop habit of descending heads down. Although improved, buoyancy needs more accuracy. Saw fish from Monterey.Need more to be aware of surroundings.Lasted at leas 75 mins. Reduction is due to computer lapse to turn on /on (4feet)

In 3400 Out 400 Great viz, very mild north current. bunch of GGs still on the wreck and on the barge(s). Lots of snappers and various fish awful surface weather with 3-5 turning to 5-7. one dive and done. first time out with Skinnydivers on the SurfaceTime (a 6 pack). Great job by Capt Brian fin strap bungee came off one side early on Danny. very strange...fixed no impact
