The Great Giant Sea Bass Count 2015

by Connerj on July 06, 2015

It's that time of year again! The now annual Great Giant Sea

Bass Count (2015 edition) is almost here and we are gearing up to spot some

giants.

For any of those who didn't hear about the Great Giant Sea

Bass Count last year, the project involves using observations and sightings

DEMA 2012 Las Vegas

by Kernsart on November 27, 2012

To say DEMA 2012 was a success, would be an understatement.

People from all over the USA and the world were there, and excited to see the new developments in scuba gear and related items. So, scuba gear trends and innovations will be the topic.

Although last year's tech movement held a huge spot in the 2012 show as well, the newest gear had a greater level of actual high-tech usability. Innovations as...

Underwater art exhibition in Florida Keys

by Ksso on August 11, 2011

An underwater art exhibit has debuted on a former Air Force missile tracking ship ( the USNS Gen. Hoyt S. Vandenberg)  sunk in the Florida Keys.Austrian art photographer Andreas Franke is exhibiting a dozen digitally composited images 93 feet underwater on the weather deck of the Gen. Hoyt S. Vandenberg. The exhibit is at the National Marine Sanctuary. Officials who spearheaded the 2009 scuttling said Sunday that Franke photographed the wreck last year and added other elements to create the artwork. One picture depicts a girl wielding a butterfly net to capture fish shown in an original underwater image of the wreck. In another, kick boxers compete adjacent to one of Vandenberg's iconic...

DAN's Caches

by Ksso on June 17, 2011

Througout the summer, DAN will be posting new caches in the US on Twitter and Facebook. Caches are like treasure hunts, where a pile of goodies are hidden in a chest for the scuba diver to find. No easy indication marking the spot, only GPS coordinates for the entry point and your skills as underwater explorers along with some instructions. Here one as an exemple and the full listing can be seen on Dan's site :

"The Rawlings Cache"GPS Coordinates: N 36° 56.984 W 077° 46.003You must be a certified scuba diver to seek this cache located at Lake Rawlings Quarry in Rawlings, Va. Check in at the quarry. The cache is located at the Mystery Boat (#11 on the Lake Rawlings Dive Map). The site is...
